Medical interests: Family medicine, integrative and holistic medicine, lifestyle and preventive medicine, mental health and veterans health.
Outside Interests: Running, hiking, soccer, mindfulness and meditation, learning to play the electric guitar well, did I mention soccer?
Life before medicine: Majored in advertising and marketing as a college undergrad. Worked a little but needed something more fulfilling. Did some traveling and adventure and found my path in medicine.
Favorite music: Classic Rock. Led Zeppelin, the Doors, Pink Floyd.
Favorite movies: Rocky I and II.
Why I chose MFMR: I chose MFMR because of the opportunity to practice family medicine in a unique setting surrounded by majestic mountains and forests. The program itself is robust and the faculty are kind and nurturing. I am sure I will get a well-rounded education and solid residency experience here that will train me to confidently serve my patients and our community.

Medical Interests: Hospice and palliative care, improving health access, and patient education
Outside interests: Skiing, biking, collaborative story telling games, reading fiction, reflective writing
Life Before Medicine: Camping in my mom’s backyard and on my dad’s balcony for two years, folk dancing in Norway, bike messenger in New York City, Spanish studies in Peru, Chile and Argentina

Why you chose MFMR: Montana gave me so much in the past, I wanted to return to live and serve in this state, and continue building the community for a lifelong medical practice here

Medical Interests: Obstetrics, pediatrics, cross-cultural medicine, public health, emergency management
Outside Interests: I am an avid baker and love exploring foods from around the world. I also sew and have a particular interest in refashioning and historical costuming. I love animals of all kinds and grew up with a dog and riding horses. I have done animal rescue work with neonatal kittens, including rescuing my calico cat named Audrey off the streets in Israel.
Life before Medicine: My parents were missionaries, so I grew up all over the world, but spent my older childhood and teen years in Colorado. Before medical school, I took a gap year and had the privilege of working as a nanny for two wonderful little boys.
Favorite Music: Big band, swing, Christian folk, musical soundtracks, movie scores

Why you chose MFMR: I chose MFMR because I saw an opportunity to grow both in medicine and in public health while serving the people of Billings and working with a great team of people. I also loved Montana from the moment I landed, and I knew it would feel like home in no time.

Medical Interests: Obstetrics and women’s health, wellness, preventative and rural medicine, geriatrics
Outside Interests: Hiking, camping, skiing, kayaking, paddle boarding – anything that involves exploring with my husband, kids and our labradoodle, Festus.
Life before Medicine: Becoming a doctor has been my goal since middle school, but I took time to travel and focus on my kids’ early years before entering medical school. I’ve lived in Portland, Ore., Southern California, Las Vegas, Nev., Austria, and Washington.
Favorite Music: Indie, alternative rock, classical. The Lumineers or Nathaniel Rateliff are usually on my repeat.
Favorite Movies: Lately, I’ve spent more time with shows that make me laugh. Parks and Rec and the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel are two current favorites.
Why you chose MFMR: MFMR offered a well-rounded family practice philosophy and diversity of opportunities. I was interested in learning with a group of like-minded individuals who had the same passion and drive for patients, but who would also challenge me to grow. Also, Billings is an ideal location to meet my family’s desire for strong community and multiple outdoor adventures. We couldn’t be happier to call Billings home for the next stage of our journey.

Medical Interests: Being so involved with the outdoors throughout my life, I find wilderness medicine fascinating and extremely helpful in tough situations. Sports have also made a large impact on my life, so getting involved in sports medicine and continuing to be involved in sports through my career would be awesome. In the long run, I’m hoping to settle down in a rural area somewhere in the mountains as a rural family medicine physician.
Outside Interests: I’m a big fan of the outdoors, so that’s usually where you’ll find me if I have some free time. I was raised in the Big Horn Mountains above Sheridan, Wyo., and have spent a large portion of my life camping, hunting, fishing, and hiking. My other big passion is music. I’ve played the guitar since I was 12 and like to do covers, and occasionally write my own songs. Outside of those two things, I enjoy sports and competition, spending time with my family and friends, and trying new things. Recently I’ve taken up woodworking and have created the vast majority of the furniture in my home. I also recently switched from snowboarding to skiing after snowboarding for 10+ years.
Life before Medicine: Before deciding to pursue medicine, most of my interests involved sports. I played football, track, and baseball in high school, and was on the University of Wyoming football team for a short time. I also spent a lot of my time getting fresh air and seeking adventure in the mountains. My family means more to me than anything. I would have never made it this far without them.
Favorite Music: I’m not that picky when it comes to music. It kind of depends on the day. Some of my all-time favorites are Eric Church, Steve Moakler, The Holdup, Iration, and Blink 182.
Favorite Movies: Tarantino movies, The Longest Yard, Friday Night Lights, Book of Eli, and 80s spoofs.
Why you chose MFMR: The biggest reason for me would probably be the incredibly fun, kind and patient nature of the existing residents and faculty. During my sub-internship as a fourth-year medical student, I don’t recall a single moment when I didn’t feel like I was a part of the team. I was constantly challenged by new obstacles and new ways of thinking. Everyone was always willing to take the time to teach or explain something if I seemed unsure. I knew by the end of my sub-internship that this was where I wanted to be. They also offer a track in wilderness medicine, which was extremely appealing to me, and plenty of nearby areas for outdoor activities and exploring. Luckily, Billings has always been my second hometown. I was born here, and half of my family lives here, with the other half located only a short drive away in Wyoming.

Medical Interests: Emergency medicine, sports medicine, patient education, full-spectrum family medicine
Outside Interests: Dogs, nature, coloring, hiking, trying to play sports
Life before Medicine: Born and raised in Chicago. Studied Economics, a little chemistry, and played volleyball at Vassar College. Travelled a bit. Coached volleyball and then taught/tutored physics at Resurrection High School back in Chicago. Even did a two-month stint in graduate school studying biochemistry/cell biology.
Favorite Music: Apashe, The Beatles, Cat Clyde, T.D.E, Tash Sultana, Griz
Favorite Movies: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Donnie Darko, Charlie Bartlett
Why you chose MFMR: I applied because MFMR’s location in Billings is surrounded by the prettiest nature. But I chose the program because of the people. Everybody was super welcoming and friendly. MFMR seemed like a very supportive environment, and the program was a perfect fit for my unique interests in and outside of medicine.

Medical Interests: Austere, expedition, rescue, altitude, sports, and emergency medicine; critical care, trauma care, point-of-care ultrasound
Outside Interests: Skiing, rock climbing, mountaineering, most often on a mixed sport adventure with my husband. At home, I spend my time DJing, sewing, and on electronics projects.
Life before Medicine: I spent my whole life traveling with a large part of my childhood in Europe, eventually landing back in Washington State to pursue graduate education and wilderness medicine. Professionally, I worked in mental health after undergrad and later EMS in rescue and ski patrol with focuses on education, research, and protocol development.
Favorite Music: Trip hop, downtempo, drum ’n’ bass, techno, electronica, house, blues, soul, funk; indie, classic, and progressive rock, 90’s alternative
Favorite Movies: Psychological thrillers, sci-fi.
Why you chose MFMR: Hands-on broad spectrum medicine in one of my favorite regions in the world was hard to beat, but the quality of the people was by far the clincher.

Medical Interests: Wilderness medicine, emergency medicine, quality improvement in medicine.
Outside Interests: Kite surfing, snowboarding, mountain biking, climbing, and loads of hiking. I live for morning coffee on overnight backpacking trips
Life before Medicine: I took the long road to medicine, starting out working odd jobs after high school and later joining the Navy to serve as a nuclear reactor operator and Navy diver aboard a fast attack submarine. I have been to the North Pole and dove the “Mighty Mo” where the WWII peace agreement was signed. I later spent several years working in the engineering department helping to manufacture biopharmaceuticals before succumbing to my growing passion in wilderness medicine and pre-hospital care as a wilderness EMT.
Favorite Music: I grew up on a massive dose of Creedence Clearwater Revival and the B-52’s, classic rock, and the pop music of the late 90’s. Most of my Spotify playlist is an eclectic mix of “boots and cats,” classic rock, and delightful 90’s and 00’s pop hits.
Favorite Movies: I have watched “Big Trouble in Little China” and “The Shawshank Redemption” more than any one human should. I love sci-fi and feel that “Battlestar Galactica” is one of the best series of all time. I go against the grain and feel that Janeway was a better captain over Picard.
Why you chose MFMR: The Family Medicine program in Billings was love at first sight for me. They have one of the best wilderness medicine programs around, a kind and respectful faculty, and a nationally renowned family medicine program. Though not from Montana, many of the best people I have ever met have roots here. I could not be more grateful to provide care to the wonderful people of Montana.

Medical Interests: Women’s health, reproductive care, obstetrics, immigrant and refugee health, and healthcare policy.
Outside Interests: Podcasts (Sam Harris, Ira Glass, Malcolm Gladwell), running, coffee, craft beers, camping, hiking, board games, singing, theater and video games.
Life before Medicine: Lots of part-time jobs, including lifeguard and a freshman mentor at BYU. Was a missionary for two years in the Dominican Republic.
Favorite Music: Hamilton, Dear Evan Hansen, The Fray, Lizzo, Pentatonix, Blanco Brown, Childish Gambino
Favorite Movies: LOTR, Harry Potter, Joker, Christopher Nolan, Robin Williams
Why you chose MFMR: Close to family with political advocacy opportunities. High risk obstetrics and a desire to be near mountains again. Excited for wilderness medicine.
