Medical interests: Primary care, lifestyle medicine, preventative medicine, wilderness medicine
Outside Interests: Spending time with my wife and two dogs, camping, fishing, golfing, hiking, and playing piano and saxophone.
Life before medicine: I grew up in a small farming community in southern Illinois, spending time doing outdoor activities and playing basketball and music. I developed an aptitude for science in high school and decided to pursue these interests at SIUE, where I worked as a teaching assistant in the chemistry and physics departments.
Favorite music: 90s/2000s country, classic rock, jazz
Favorite movies: Lord of the Rings trilogy, Star Wars, Indiana Jones
Why I chose MFMR: The chance to train in full-spectrum rural family medicine in a beautiful location was an opportunity I could not pass up. From my very first interactions with residents, faculty and staff, I was met with warmth and support. I felt that I would fit in quite well in such a welcoming environment.
