X-ray Training

Eastern Montana AHEC at RiverStone Health provides continuing education programs for health professionals on X-ray techniques.
Basic X-ray Techniques Workshop

This 104-hour program is designed for those preparing to take the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) national registry exam to obtain state licensure.

  • Available for state licensing in Montana and Wyoming.
  • Available to those working in Idaho, South Dakota and Washington for educational training. These states do not require state licensing.
  • Approved as a Category A course for 72.5 credits by ASRT
  • This is the educational portion of training ONLY. Our 104-hour program does not provide assistance in acquiring a clinical.

Format:

At-home correspondence work AND in-person classroom time; all correspondence coursework must be completed before attending the classroom portion.

  • The correspondence portion includes online exams and a two-part Imaging Equipment Activity.
  • The classroom portion is divided into two, four-day sessions spanning two weekends, for a total of eight days. Students must be present for entire in-class portion in order to receive certificate of completion.

Cost: $1,500 per person (does not include textbooks).

The 104-hour Basic X-Ray Techniques Workshop is held each April and October.

This 104-hour workshop is required for those seeking a license as a Limited Permit Holder (LPH) in the State of Montana.

Students are accepted on a first-come first-served basis and the course is capped at 24 students.

Please complete and return the registration form to ahec@RiverStoneHealth.org by March 14. 

Once we have received your registration form, we will contact you to coordinate payment and send you the materials for the workshop. 

Continuing Education for X-ray Limited Permit Holder

One-day continuing education workshops are offered twice a year.

  • Approved for limited permit holders in Montana, Wyoming and North Dakota.
  • ASRT approved as a Category A course for 6.5 credits.
  • All workshops are presented onsite at RiverStone Health in Billings. and online via Zoom.
