Clean Indoor Air

Beginning March 1, RiverStone Board of Health’s Rule #7 will go into effect in Yellowstone County, further protecting the health of the public by prohibiting:

• The use of electronic nicotine delivery systems (ENDS) which includes e-cigarettes and other vaping devices in indoor public spaces.
• Smoking, including the use of ENDS, within 20 feet of entryways, windows, or ventilation systems of public buildings.

Rule #7 is designed to protect the public from the harmful effects of secondhand smoke and aerosol from ENDS. Rule #7, like the statewide Clean Indoor Air Act, recognizes that the right to breathe smokefree air has priority over the desire to smoke.

All public businesses in Yellowstone County are required to post new “no smoking” signs that refer to Rule #7 at all public entrances. The signs are provided by RiverStone Health. Enforcement is triggered by complaints.

You can find the answers to Frequently Asked Questions or view the full text of Rule #7.
