Student Clerkship
Applications:
We invite you to apply for a student clerkship, if you are a third-year medical student who would like to experience a rotation in an underserved clinic in Montana. The Montana Family Medicine Residency (MFMR) is located at RiverStone Health, a community health center, in Billings, Montana.
MFMR offers Family Medicine Clerkship rotations for fourth-year medical students. Rotations consist of working with the MFMR faculty and residents in the outpatient clinics at RiverStone Health, Healthcare for the Homeless, and three outlying rural clinics. Inpatient experience is at the two major medical centers in Billings: St. Vincent Healthcare and Billings Clinic.
Rotations are scheduled during the fourth year of your school/program. Four-week rotations are scheduled between July and February, with the most popular months in August and September. Being somewhat flexibility in your preferred dates helps increase your chances of being selected for a rotation. The four-week rotations are divided between inpatient and outpatient care, depending on the student’s preference and/or school requirements.
Applications are accepted from January through the mid-March, prior to the academic year of the requested rotation. Once your application is received, it will be reviewed by the faculty, and you will receive a response by April 1. Please indicate alternate dates you may be available in the event we cannot accommodate your first preference. Applications received after the deadline may be considered, depending on space availability.
